Lucknow: The UP govt has been recognised for the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.According to the state health department, the recognition was given for the “effective implementation” of the schemes and expansion of digital health services. The award was conferred by the National Health Authority during a two-day national workshop held in Pune on April 17-18.Health secretary Ritu Maheshwari and state health agency (SACHIS) chief executive officer Archana Verma said the recognition reflects efforts to expand healthcare access and strengthen digital systems in the state.Officials said that 6,433 hospitals are currently empanelled under the scheme in the state, including 3,521 private and 2,912 govt facilities. A number of these hospitals are equipped with digital systems under the Ayushman Bharat digital mission, enabling electronic records and streamlined patient services. In the past year, the state has also focused on adding higher-capacity hospitals. Recently, 55 hospitals with 100 or more beds were empanelled, which officials said would strengthen secondary and tertiary care services. The expansion has improved access to specialised treatments such as neurosurgery, neonatal care, oncology, radiology, plastic surgery and burn management. Officials added that this has reduced the need for patients, particularly from rural areas, to travel outside their districts or to other states for advanced care.
