Lucknow: The lone survivor, Jayant Gupta (26), under treatment for injuries sustained in the Aliganj fire incident, remains under observation in ICU at the Trauma Centre of King George’s Medical University.Gupta suffered multiple injuries when he jumped from the second floor of the building to escape the fire. KGMU medical experts said, the impact after falling on the ground caused fractures in several ribs and swelling of vertebrae. Before jumping, he suffered some burn injuries. He is also under mental trauma and is being continuously assessed by a multidisciplinary medical team.KGMU Trauma Centre’s chief medical superintendent Prof Prem Raj Singh said, “Conservative treatment is on and, as of now, no surgical intervention has been advised. We are closely monitoring the patient under the guidance of neurosurgery and orthopaedic specialists. We are hopeful that he will be able to walk soon.” Eight other injured victims were discharged after their condition improved.
