Lucknow: Two Samajwadi Party (SP) functionaries on Tuesday submitted a complaint at Hazratganj police station seeking registration of an FIR against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and social media user Saravanaprasad Balasubramanian over alleged defamatory posts on ‘X’ linking SP chief Akhilesh Yadav to an accused in the Ram temple donation theft case. The complaint was filed by SP spokesperson Manoj Singh Kaka and Lohia Vahini national vice-president Ankur Pandey. It alleges the accused published and circulated “false, fabricated and defamatory” content suggesting the SP chief had links with Ramashankar Yadav alias Tinnu Yadav, who has been arrested in the case and is currently in judicial custody.According to the complainants, the posts were made without evidence or credible material and were intended to damage the former UP chief minister’s reputation and the public image of the party. They asserted there is no material connecting Akhilesh Yadav with the arrested accused and claimed the posts were part of a deliberate attempt to create a misleading political narrative and influence public opinion. The complaint said the content was widely circulated on social media, harming the goodwill of the SP and its national president. The SP functionaries termed the alleged actions malicious and politically motivated. They requested police to register a case. SHO Hazratganj, Vikram Singh said that they received an application and a probe was being conducted.
