Lucknow: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) has recorded its highest number of postgraduate admission applications in the last four years, receiving 18,589 applications for 2,611 seats. The university had received 15,965 applications last year, while the number of candidates who paid the admission fee in 2023 and 2024 hovered around 15,000.“The figures are really encouraging for us. Overall, the number of applications for CUET-PG has gone down. Last year, around 5.5 lakh candidates registered for admissions to central universities across the country, but the number has dropped to 3.5 lakh this year. Despite this decline, applications to BBAU are showing an increasing trend,” said admission coordinator Prof Amit Kumar Singh.Admissions to 55 postgraduate programmes through CUET-PG are expected to be highly competitive this year, with some courses attracting over 40 applicants for every seat.“Our professional programmes continue to dominate student preference,” Singh said. The MCA programme emerged as the most sought-after course, attracting 2,031 applications for just 60 seats. It was followed by the MBA programme, which received 1,855 applications for 90 seats.
