Lucknow: The UP Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has declared the final results of the 2023 direct recruitment of outstanding sportspersons for the posts of sub-inspector (civil police) and constable (civil police/PAC).The recruitment was conducted on Dec 19, 2023, for SI posts and on Dec 12, 2023, for constable posts. Applications were invited online from eligible sportspersons across 25 men’s and 23 women’s sports disciplines.According to the Board, the final merit list was prepared after scrutiny of applications, verification of documents, sports skill tests, evaluation of sports certificates and verification of original sports credentials. The list of selected candidates has been uploaded on the UPPRPB website.Against 91 sanctioned posts of SI (civil police) — including 56 for men and 35 for women — the Board selected 43 candidates, including 23 men and 20 women, leaving 48 posts vacant due to non-availability of eligible candidates.Similarly, against 546 vacancies for constable (civil police/PAC), the Board selected 427 candidates. The selected candidates include 280 men — 148 for civil police and 132 for PAC — and 147 women. The recruitment was conducted against a sanctioned strength of 176 posts for male civil police, 174 for male PAC personnel and 196 posts for women.The Board has also made provisional selections for 27 candidates whose original sports certificates are yet to be verified by the competent authorities. These include seven candidates for SI (civil police), 19 for constable (civil police), and one for constable (PAC). Their appointments will be subject to successful verification of their sports credentials.The recruitment was conducted in accordance with the UP Police (outstanding sportspersons) Recruitment and Out-of-Turn Promotion Rules, 2021. The Board said that while due care has been taken in publishing the results, any inadvertent technical error will not confer any right or benefit on any candidate.
