JAMMU: Two Army personnel were severely injured Friday after a grenade accidentally exploded during a training exercise near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. The mishap came two days after an accidental blast near the LoC in Kamalkote area of Uri, Baramulla district, killed two 8RR soldiers from Maharashtra on June 10.The grenade detonated around 12.15pm while Army personnel were conducting routine training and weapon-handling drills at a forward post in the Area of Responsibility of 12 Bihar Regiment at Degwar Terwan in Malti sector, officials said.The injured duo — Lance Naik Ravinder Bhera (Bihar Battalion) and Agniveer Shakti Prasad — was first rushed to the 425 Army Field Hospital in Poonch and later airlifted to Udhampur Northern Command Hospital for specialised medical care, given their serious condition, officials said.The Army ordered a Court of Inquiry to ascertain the cause of the accidental explosion.
