Lucknow: Taking note of complaints over the non-refund of security deposits collected from candidates during last year’s NEET counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education, Amit Kumar Ghosh ordered the immediate clearance of dues, an official spokesperson said on Tuesday.The order to clear the refund valued at Rs 380 crore as on date means relief to some 30,000 candidates.Terming the delay unacceptable, Ghosh also ordered the closure of the accounts linked to the process while directing strict disciplinary proceedings against employees found responsible for the lapse.As part of the crackdown, Dr Rahul, an attached faculty member in the Directorate General of Medical Education and Training office, and stenographer Mohammad Irfan Ansari were suspended with immediate effect pending further orders.Reiterating the govt’s commitment to student welfare, Ghosh said any delay or carelessness in issues concerning students’ interests would not be tolerated.
