US President Donald Trump on Wednesday joked about running for the prime minister of Israel as he cited his approval ratings, which he claimed were 99.Speaking to the reporters, he said: “I’m right now at 99% in Israel. I could run for prime minister! Maybe after I do this, I’ll go to Israel.”Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has managed to stay in power for much of the past 17 years partly through a strong alliance with ultra-Orthodox religious parties. But that alliance is now straining his governing coalition and emerging as a fresh political challenge for the veteran Israeli leader ahead of elections expected later this year. During the interaction, Trump was also asked about Chinese President Xi Jinping meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin during Putin’s visit to China this week.“I watched. I think we topped them. I think we topped them,” he said, speaking of the ceremony. He said that he had good relations with both the leaders. Trump said he had been informed about the visit beforehand and characterised the meeting as a positive development.
