Lucknow: An ex-block development committee (BDC) member scaled an overhead water tank in Dubagga on Saturday to protest against poor road conditions and choked drains in his village, climbing down after officials assured action.Raju Yadav staged the protest in Tandkheda village, alleging that repeated complaints to authorities over severely damaged roads had gone unaddressed. He claimed residents were facing daily hardship due to pothole-ridden streets and inadequate drainage, despite several representations to officials and public representatives. The protest drew a large crowd as Yadav remained atop the tank for over an hour, warning of extreme steps if concrete assurances were not given. Police and civil administration teams rushed to the spot and began efforts to persuade him to come down.Former block pramukh Rajbala Rawat also reached the site and climbed the tank to speak with Yadav, eventually convincing him to end the agitation.Police said he was brought down safely without any untoward incident. Officials present at the scene told him that the villagers’ grievances would be examined and necessary action taken on road repairs and drainage issues. Yadav then ended his protest, with authorities promising early intervention to address civic problems.
