BENGALURU: Cops have uncovered a chilling motive behind the brutal killing of a man by his lover: She was jealous and angry after she discovered that he was getting close to his ex-girlfriend.The accused, 27-year-old Prema, lured 29-year-old Kiran LN into an intimate BDSM activity involving role play before carrying out the murder — a cold and calculated plan. The incident took place at her residence in Anjananagar in Byadarahalli police limits of northwest Bengaluru Tuesday.According to police, Prema and Kiran, colleagues at a mobile service store in Rajajinagar, had been in a relationship. While Prema reportedly was keen on taking the relationship to the next step of marriage, Kiran had allegedly begun to withdraw. The situation escalated when he allegedly reconnected with his ex-partner and celebrated her birthday, photographs of which were found by Prema on his phone. This discovery, coupled with his growing distance and reluctance to any commitment, appears to have pushed Prema into a state of turmoil, police said. She allegedly began planning the murder and bought petrol, kerosene, and rope. Under the pretext of meeting him alone, she invited Kiran to her residence in Anjananagar.According to a complaint filed by Kiran’s father Narasimhaiah, the boy received a call from a villager asking him to come to Bengaluru, stating his son had been killed. He reached the house in the evening and learned that Prema, who lived on the second floor, invited Kiran over. When Narasimaiah reached the spot, he learned from the building owner, Chetan Kumar, and neighbours that Prema ran out of the house and asked for help to save Kiran. Residents attempted to douse the fire using buckets of water. As the flames could not be controlled, they alerted police and fire and emergency services. When Narasimhaiah questioned Prema, she confessed to be in a relationship with Kiran and disputes arose over minor issues. She then decided he should not marry anyone else and planned to kill him, police said. She had contemplated suicide, but developed cold feet seeing Kiran suffer to death.
