Lucknow: A series of tragic incidents linked to exam stress has surfaced across Uttar Pradesh following the declaration of board results, raising concerns about student mental health.In Gonda, an Intermediate student allegedly died by suicide after failing the UP Board examination for the second consecutive year. A student of an inter college in the Tulsipur area, the deceased was found hanging from a tree near his house in Lalnagar Sipahiya village on Friday morning.According to family members, the boy’s behaviour appeared normal the night before, as he had dinner with the family before going to sleep. However, he went missing the next morning, and during a search, his body was found hanging from a tree near the house. Police said the incident is being linked to exam-related stress. SHO Sudhir Singh said further inquiry is underway.In a similar incident in Sultanpur, an 18-year-old Intermediate girl student allegedly died by suicide after scoring lower-than-expected marks in the examination. She had secured 66.8%, which left her distressed, police said. Her body was found hanging at her home on Thursday night. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and initiated legal proceedings.Meanwhile, in Sitapur, an 18-year-old boy allegedly consumed a poisonous substance after failing the High School examination for the second time. He is currently undergoing treatment at a district hospital, and his condition is stated to be stable.
