KANPUR: A woman in Kanpur allegedly stabbed her husband to death following an argument over her relationship with another man, with her family claiming that the man on the phone had urged her to “finish your husband today.“The incident took place on June 5 when Manish Gupta, a grocery market broker-turned-businessman, allegedly saw his wife Niharika Gupta speaking to her boyfriend on the phone. A heated argument followed, during which Niharika allegedly attacked him with a vegetable knife, police said.Manish suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital. He was initially taken to KPM Hospital on Birhana Road before being referred to Hallet Hospital, where he died during treatment 11 days later on Tuesday.According to Pheelkhana police station in-charge Abhay Pratap Singh, Niharika admitted during questioning that she had attacked her husband with a knife. She was arrested and sent to jail.Manish’s father Ramkishore Gupta said his son had married Niharika, a teacher, in 2017 after the family learned about their relationship. The couple had a six-year-old son, Riyansh.
