Lucknow: Sitapur Police have filed an FIR against the operator and staff of a private hospital in Reusa following a probe into the death of a woman shortly after childbirth, allegedly due to negligence. The woman was admitted to the hospital on March 4, where she gave birth. Her condition worsened post-delivery and she died. Her family created a ruckus outside the hospital, alleging medical negligence. Taking cognisance, district magistrate Raja Ganapathi R ordered an inquiry and constituted a committee under Biswan SDM. In her preliminary inquiry report, SDM Shikha Shukla noted that the patient appeared to be suffering from severe anaemia and her condition was critical. Despite this, the hospital allegedly kept her admitted for nearly six hours without referring her to a higher medical facility.Hospital operator Vinay Kumar Mishra claimed that the patient was treated by a registered doctor, Dr Hasan Shakeel. However, Dr Shakeel allegedly claimed he hadn’t treated the patient at the facility, sparking suspicion. The conflicting accounts have led to speculation that an unregistered medical practitioner might have been treating patients at the hospital. The SDM’s report revealed that although the hospital was registered, it did not have permission to run an operation theatre. Additionally, CCTV cameras installed at the hospital were found to be non-functional.Based on the findings, the SDM recommended action against the hospital administration to the DM.
