NEW DELHI: A massive fire broke out at the Gaur Green Avenue society in Abhay Khand, Indirapuram, on Wednesday morning. Fire tenders rushed to the spot soon after the blaze was reported, as thick plumes of smoke billowed from the residential complex. Around 5 to 6 flats have been gutted in the incident, though the exact extent of the damage is still being assessed. Residents evacuated in haste as the fire spread rapidly through parts of the building.Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Rahul Kumar said to news agency ANI, “There are no casualties. Some people were trapped. The fire service has safely evacuated them. There were five to six flats, from the ninth to the eleventh floor; some were closed, some were open.” He added, “The fire is being extinguished. By now, we have completely contained the fire. More than seventeen of our vehicles are present at the scene. Hydraulics are also present. We have completely controlled the fire. Some flats were empty, and some were partially damaged.” Rohit, a resident of the society, said, “Around 10–12 flats are gutted in the fire. Maybe there was some electricity issue. I do not have full information.”UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the police commissioner and the DM to rush to the spot and fast-track relief efforts. Authorities suspect a possible electrical fault may have triggered the blaze, but the exact cause will be confirmed only after a detailed investigation. No injuries and casualties have been reported.(With agency inputs)
