GURGAON: A home guard personnel attached with Gurgaon Police was removed from duty after a video showing him allegedly abusing an auto-rickshaw driver over refusal to provide a free ride surfaced on social media.The video, which went viral, shows a heated argument between the police personnel and the auto driver. According to the driver, the officer boarded his auto and asked him to take him to a destination. The driver refused, saying he had already accepted a booking through an app and could not leave his passenger.The refusal led to an argument, during which the police personnel allegedly used abusive language against the driver. The driver can be heard questioning the officer over the behaviour and saying he was only performing his duty.In the video, the auto driver also claimed that he had arrived at the location after receiving a booking when the officer sat in his vehicle and demanded a free ride.After the video surfaced, Gurgaon Police took action against the personnel. In a statement, police said, “The home guard employee Pravesh seen in the video has been removed from duty and departmental and disciplinary action is being initiated against him. Gurgaon Police is committed to the service, safety and cooperation of the general public.”Police officials said further action will be taken as per the findings of the inquiry.
