GURGAON:A 45-year-old school principal and her 25-year-old son were allegedly shot dead by the woman’s husband following a family dispute in the Ashok Vihar area in the early hours of Sunday, police said.The deceased were identified as Asha and her son Prashant. Police said both sustained fatal gunshot injuries and were declared dead at the scene.According to police, information about the shooting was received at around 12.05am. A team from Sector-5 police station reached the spot, secured the area and began an investigation. A forensic team was also called to collect evidence from the crime scene.Police said the accused, identified as Anil, worked as a security officer in a private company. He was detained after the incident.A case of murder has been registered at Sector-5 police station. Preliminary investigation suggests the shooting was linked to a family dispute, officers said.Investigators said further questioning and evidence collection are underway to establish the sequence of events and the circumstances that led to the deaths.The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination and will be handed over to the family after legal formalities are completed.An investigator said the probe is continuing and that the exact motive will be determined based on evidence gathered during the investigation.A large number of local residents gathered at the spot after hearing gunshots and alerted the police.
