Gurgaon: City’s minimum and maximum temperatures dropped sharply on Sunday under the influence of western disturbances, dust-front activity and cyclonic circulation, with IMD warning of unstable conditions, thunderstorms and gusty winds this week. After the city woke up to one of its coolest mornings of the season, Gurgaon also recorded a significant dip in daytime heat. Gurgaon KVK station logged a maximum temperature of 34.5°C, down 2.2 degrees from Saturday, while the AWS recorded 33.7°C, a 3.2-degree fall. NorthCap University station touched 35.6°C, nearly 3 degrees lower than the previous day.NorthCap recorded a minimum of 22.3°C, down 3.8 degrees. Across Haryana, IMD said average maximum temperatures fell by 3.2°C on Sunday and were 4.4°C below normal. Average minimum temperatures were also 2.6°C below normal. The weather shift was linked to a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and adjoining regions, along with an upper air cyclonic circulation over Haryana, both of which have pulled moisture, cloud cover and dust-laden winds into the plains.Independent weather forecaster Navdeep Dahiya flagged a dust front over Haryana, Delhi and north Rajasthan, saying atmospheric conditions across the plains remained highly unstable and weather patterns could shift rapidly.Across Haryana, Narnaul recorded the state’s highest maximum at 37°C, though even that was 2.6 degrees below normal. Many districts, including Rohtak, Hisar, Karnal and Gurgaon, saw daytime temperatures remain well below seasonal expectations.IMD has forecast thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds of up to 50-60 kmph and possible hailstorm activity at isolated places on Monday, with temperatures likely to fall further by 3 to 5 degrees in some areas.Residents have been advised to monitor nowcasts closely as evening storm cells and dust activity may intensify quickly.
