BENGALURU: Passengers onboard an IndiGo flight from Bengaluru to Chennai were evacuated on Tuesday after smoke was detected in the aircraft while it was taxiing for departure at Bengaluru airport.According to an IndiGo spokesperson, the incident involved flight 6E 6017 operating from Bengaluru to Chennai.“While the aircraft was taxiing out to the runway for departure, smoke was noticed in the aircraft. In the interest of safety, an immediate evacuation was carried out and all the relevant authorities were informed,” the airline said in a statement.The airline confirmed that all passengers and crew members are safe and have been shifted back to the terminal, where assistance is being provided by airline staff.IndiGo further said an alternate aircraft has been arranged to operate the flight and it is expected to depart shortly. Refreshments were also being served to passengers during the delay.The exact cause of the smoke inside the aircraft is yet to be ascertained.
