NEW DELHI: Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Thursday received a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan.Prime Minister Narendra Modi warmly welcomed the Japanese counterpart upon her arrival.After the event, Takaichi and PM Modi introduced each other to their respective country’s ministers and delegationTakaichi is on a three-day official visit to India. During her visit, she will participate in the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit.Earlier on Wednesday, ministry of external affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal welcomed the Japanese PM and underlined that the visit marks an important step in taking forward the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between New Delhi and Tokyo.In a post on X, the MEA said, “A very warm welcome to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi of Japan, who arrives in New Delhi on an official visit. PM Takaichi was received by MoS Jitendra Singh.”“The visit marks an important step in taking forward the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between India and Japan,” it added.During Takaichi’s visit, both countries are expected to deepen cooperation in economic security, resilient supply chains, emerging technologies, defence, maritime security and investment.
