Lucknow: Parents visiting the Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Lucknow can now leave their young children in a dedicated crèche while completing passport-related documentation and formalities, following the inauguration of the facility on Monday.Officials said the crèche has been set up to make passport services more convenient and applicant-friendly, especially for families who often struggle to manage small children during long waits and multiple counters. The space has been equipped with toys and play materials to keep children engaged in a safe, supervised environment, allowing parents to focus on their appointments without disruption.Regional passport officer Gyanveer Singh said the facility is part of a broader push to improve the overall experience of applicants at the office.“Our objective is not only to deliver passports but also to ensure that applicants have a smooth and hassle-free experience. The crèche is another step towards making passport services more accessible and family-friendly,” he said.The initiative has been established with support from SBI Life Insurance, Lucknow, which partnered with the passport office for the project. Officials indicated that such collaborations help create citizen-centric amenities without affecting core service delivery.Visitors welcomed the new arrangement, saying it would ease stress for parents and reduce reliance on phones and screens to keep children occupied.Umaira Kulsoom, who had previously visited the RPO with her children, said managing them during the waiting period had been difficult. She said the new crèche addressed a major concern, adding that the children appeared comfortable and engaged, and that the facility made the visit significantly easier for parents.
