Lucknow: Padma Bhushan Begum Parween Sultana will perform in the city after more than two decades at a special Indian classical music concert to be hosted by the IIM Lucknow Heritage Club, in association with SPIC MACAY, on Friday. The event will be held at Utsav, IIM Lucknow at 4.30 pm and is being organised to celebrate 49 years of SPIC MACAY — the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth.Begum Parween Sultana, one of India’s most celebrated Hindustani classical vocalists, will be accompanied by Ustad Akram Khan on Tabla, Shriniwas Acharya on Harmonium, and Shadaab Sultana Khan on vocal support.The initiative aims to bring students and the public closer to India’s classical heritage and instill appreciation for traditional art forms among the youth.SPIC MACAY has been working for nearly five decades to promote Indian classical music, dance and culture in schools and educational institutions across the country. The Lucknow chapter’s event is expected to draw music lovers, students, and faculty from across the city.
