HYDERABAD: Union minister of state for home Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s son, Bandi Bageerath, was booked in a POCSO case on Friday night for allegedly misbehaving with a 17-year-old girl and sexually harassing her. At the same time, Karimnagar II Town police registered a case against the girl and her parents on the complaint of Bageerath, who alleged that the family attempted to honey trap him and demanded Rs 5 crore to not file a false police complaint against him.Late on Friday night, mother of the 17-year-old girl, approached Pet Basheerabad police alleging that Bageerath has been harassing their daughter for over six months and he misbehaved with her at a farmhouse in Moinabad. The complainant stated that the girl came in contact with Bageerath through common friends in Hyderabad and the accused became intimate with a false promise of marriage.Pet Basheerabad police booked a case under relevant sections of the BNS and Section 11 (sexual harassment) of the POCSO Act against Bageerath on Friday night.Prior to this on Friday, Bageerath approached Karimnagar II Town police alleging that a few months ago, he got acquaintance with a girl in the name of friendship and she invited him to her family functions and group gatherings. “Believing them to be trustworthy, I accompanied them to holy places. Subsequently, her parents intimidated me to marry her, but I refused. The girl and her parents demanded money and also threatened to file a false criminal complaint against me with allegations of harassment and physical relationship. Due to fear I gave Rs 50,000 to the father of the girl but they demanded Rs 5 crore and threatened that otherwise the girl will commit suicide,” Bageerath alleged.On his complaint, a case was booked against the girl and her parents under Sections 308 (5) (extortion), 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), 61 (2) (criminal conspiracy) read with 3 (5) (common intention) of BNS on Friday evening
