US President Donald Trump urged Iran to release eight women that it reportedly preapres to execute, saying that it would be a “great start to our negotiations”. This comes after Trump warned that the US was ready to “go militarily” as Iran talks in Pakistan remains in limbo.“To the Iranian leaders, who will soon be in negotiations with my representatives: I would greatly appreciate the release of these women. I am sure that they will respect the fact that you did so. Please do them no harm! Would be a great start to our negotiations!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he said in a post on Truth Social. According to two regional officials, the United States and Iran are expected to hold another round of ceasefire talks in Pakistan, even as both sides caution that they are ready to resume hostilities if the current two-week truce collapses without agreement. Neither Washington nor Tehran has officially confirmed the scheduled talks in Islamabad. Iranian state media has also denied reports that any delegation is already present in the Pakistani capital.Trump said in a CNBC interview that he was not in favour of extending the ceasefire, stating, “Well, I don’t want to do that.” He added that time was limited, saying, “We don’t have that much time,” and stressed that Iran had been given a choice and must come to the negotiating table.
