Lucknow: Poets, writers and literary enthusiasts from across UP gathered at the International Buddhist Research Institute in Gomti Nagar on Wednesday for ‘Ashwasti’, the fifth foundation day celebration of Uttar Pradesh Sahitya Sabha.Deputy chief minister Brijesh Pathak presented the Kavyasiddhi Samman to veteran poet Shivbhajan Kamlesh. Litterateur Sharadalal was felicitated with the Sahityasiddhi Samman, while Chetna Sahitya Parishad received the Sarthak Sanstha Samman for its sustained efforts in promoting literary activities.Richa Khanna was conferred the Sahitya Unnayan Samman, Rehan Siddiqui received the Bhasha Samanvay Samman, Ramesh Mangal Vajpeyi was honoured with the Lok Sahitya Unnayan Samman and Deepak Sharma Sarthak received the Navonmesh Sahitya Samman.Pathak stressed the need to preserve cultural values and said children should receive modern education along with value-based learning rooted in Sanatan traditions. He said literature played an important role in shaping society and strengthening cultural consciousness.The outgoing president Shivom Ambar handed over charge to newly elected president Balram Shrivastava.
