Lucknow: Some stars shine on the silver screen. Others spend their days under the sun, in the rain and amid chaos—wearing khaki.That was the message actor Amitabh Bachchan chose to underline while sharing UP Police’s first official anthem, ‘Khaaki Ka Sitara’, on X. “Some stars shine in the sky… some wear khaki and shine on the ground,” Bachchan wrote, saluting the men and women of the Uttar Pradesh Police.“Kuch sitare aasman mein chamakte hain… kuch khaki pehenkar zameen par. Khaki ka Sitara,” the actor wrote on his X handle.The 6.5-minute anthem, released online after its formal launch at Lucknow’s Lok Bhawan on Aug 14, attempts to turn the everyday life of the police force into a cinematic story—one that moves from the massive crowds of Maha Kumbh 2025 to traffic junctions, emergency situations, women’s safety operations and routine policing.“Unlike a conventional music video shot over a few days, ‘Khaaki Ka Sitara’ was put together over more than a year, with footage captured during different assignments and events between Maha Kumbh 2025 and Independence Day 2026. The camera follows the uniform through its many roles: managing enormous crowds, maintaining law and order, responding to disasters, assisting citizens, handling traffic and remaining on the streets when most people are heading home. The larger pitch is simple—the khaki uniform is not just about authority and enforcement, but about being present when citizens need help most,” said Rahul Srivastava, SP, UP Police DGP PRO and incharge social media cell.“Bachchan lends his distinctive voice to the anthem, while Shankar Mahadevan provides the vocals and music. Noted poet-lyricist Alok Shrivastava has penned the lyrics, while actor Karan Anand appears as a police officer. The anthem carries the refrain: “Your security, our resolve,” said Srivastava.
