Lucknow: The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) is set to redevelop decades-old low-rise buildings in residential schemes by replacing them with modern high-rise apartments under the Uttar Pradesh Urban Redevelopment Policy-2026.LDA Vice-chairperson Prathamesh Kumar on Monday directed officials to prepare detailed redevelopment proposals. In the first phase, plans will cover residential blocks on Wazir Hasan Road in Hazratganj, along with schemes in Paper Mill Colony and Sector-G of the Kanpur Road Scheme.Officials said the Wazir Hasan Road complex, built in 1988, consists of four G+3 towers with 64 flats. While most units have been registered, a few remain pending or unallotted. The nearly four-decade-old buildings are now in a dilapidated condition, with encroachments reported in designated parking and park areas. In several cases, flats are occupied by unauthorised residents.Under the redevelopment policy, these low-rise structures will be replaced with multi-storey apartment complexes offering improved infrastructure and amenities. Existing allottees will be rehabilitated within the new developments.Similarly, the proposal for Sector-G of the Kanpur Road Scheme involves around 1,000 double-storey houses built in 1990 that are largely under unauthorised occupation.A similar exercise will be carried out in Paper Mill Colony after detailed surveys and inspections.
