New Delhi: Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma of the Delhi HC Tuesday recused herself from hearing Congress MP Karti Chidambaram’s plea seeking quashing of a criminal case lodged by CBI against him, citing a “gross delay” of nearly two decades.CBI has alleged Chidambaram helped an alcoholic beverage company in connection with a ban on duty-free sale of its whisky. Posting the matter for July 21, Justice Sharma said it should be listed before another bench .The same bench had recently refused to recuse itself from hearing matters involving Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia in the Delhi liquor policy case. They had sought Justice Sharma’s recusal citing conflict of interest.Karti argued the case is related to the period 2004-2010 but the FIR was lodged in 2025.
