Lucknow: A family in Basti district was struck by double tragedy when a 70-year-old man died after receiving the body of his son, who was killed in a road accident.The incident took place in Banpur village under the Lalganj police station limits.According to family members, Sunil Kumar Majhi (40) died in a road accident in Gorakhpur on Saturday evening. On receiving information about the accident, his father, Balram alias Tittil Majhi (70), travelled to Gorakhpur on Sunday morning to bring back his son’s body.As Sunil’s body reached the village on Sunday, grief befell on the family home. Unable to bear the shock of his son’s untimely death, Balram collapsed while mourning beside the body. He complained of severe chest pain and died of a suspected heart attack at around 4 am on Sunday.The deaths of father and son within a span of just 36 hours pushed the family and the entire village into mourning. Neighbours and relatives gathered at the house to offer their condolences.Sunil is survived by his wife, Ranju, three daughters—Anshika (12), Aanshi (10) and Putli (6)—and an eight-year-old son, Priyanshu. The bereaved family has been left devastated by the back-to-back tragedies.
