Lucknow: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has introduced the one time settlement (OTS) scheme for house tax collection in the state capital.Around Rs 1,500.76 crore is due as house, water and sewerage tax from 2,24,749 houses in eight zones which includes Rs 724.76 crore of arrears, Rs 497.41 crore of pending dues and Rs 278.58 crore as interest. Under the scheme which started on Aug 15, defaulters of more than Rs 1 lakh will be given the facility to pay in three installments.Scheme, interest and surcharge waiver opportunity will start on Monday. According to chief tax assessment officer Vinay Rai, the state govt has implemented OTS scheme in all 762 urban bodies to increase recovery of outstanding dues. This scheme will run till Dec 15.Under this scheme, all residential, non-residential, and govt buildings with outstanding dues as of April 1, 2026, receive a 100% rebate on interest and surcharges. Those taking advantage of the scheme will be able to pay dues up to Rs 1 lakh within 30 days.The highest number of municipal corporation debtors is in Zone 3 (Aliganj) where approximately Rs 301 crore is outstanding on 39,088 buildings. This is followed by zone 2 (Aishbagh) where the outstanding amount is Rs 268.15 crore, and zone 8 (Aashiana) where the dues is Rs 134.96 crore.The lowest outstanding amount is in Zone 5 (Alambagh) which amounts to Rs 38.02 crore.Applications to avail of the facility can be made online and offline from Aug 15 to Nov 14. Applications will be processed within 15 days.
