Lucknow: Amid the controversy surrounding the alleged theft of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Sunday accused opposition parties of repeatedly questioning Hindu faith and seeking political mileage by raising fresh concerns around the Ram Mandir.Addressing a Shakti Kendra Sanyojak Sammelan at Rashtra Prerna Sthal, Nabin avoided making any direct reference to the donation theft allegations but asserted that both the BJP and the government would take all necessary steps to protect the faith associated with Lord Ram’s temple.Nabin alleged that those questioning developments linked to the Ayodhya temple were the same political forces that had earlier challenged the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and disputed the existence of Lord Ram.“These are the same people who questioned the very existence of Lord Ram and even Ram Setu,” he said. “Even if we have to shed our own blood, we will ensure that no one plays with the faith associated with Lord Ram’s temple. We are prepared to make whatever sacrifice is required,” Nabin added.Referring to the 1990 firing on kar sevaks in Ayodhya, Nabin added: “These are the same people who opened fire on kar sevaks, causing rivers of blood to flow. Those shedding crocodile tears today can never truly speak for the faith of Hindus,” he said.Launching a sharp attack on the opposition, he named Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, accusing them of attempting to exploit religious sentiments for political gains.“If these anti-Hindu forces are trying to score political points today, let me say this clearly to Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Kejriwal — do not underestimate Hinduism by thinking people will be misled by your deceptions,” he said.He also accused opposition parties of remaining silent when Hindu religious beliefs and traditions were allegedly targeted.“We saw your silence whenever Hindu gods and goddesses were insulted. We saw your silence when questions were raised over Hindu worship practices in Tamil Nadu and when the Ramcharitmanas was insulted in Bihar,” he said.Describing the Ram Temple as a symbol of the faith and aspirations of millions of Hindus, Nabin said the BJP would not allow anyone to insult or politicise that faith.“The BJP remains committed to safeguarding religious sentiments and exposing attempts to mislead people on issues linked to Hindu beliefs,” he said.Recalling his family’s association with the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, Nabin said his father had participated as a kar sevak and spent two months in jail.“My father left Patna as a kar sevak and spent two months in jail. We did not know whether he would return home safely. We have made sacrifices and endured hardships. Can your family match that sacrifice?” he said.Turning to the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Nabin expressed confidence that BJP workers would ensure another victory for the party.“The energy visible here shows that every BJP worker is committed to ensuring that the lotus blooms once again in 2027. The strength of our Shakti Kendras and the hard work of their coordinators will drive that victory,” he said.Highlighting what he described as the BJP government’s achievements over the past nine years, Nabin said Uttar Pradesh’s transformation was reflected in major infrastructure projects and improved delivery of welfare schemes. He said he was in the state to review preparations for the Assembly polls and that interactions with party workers had strengthened his belief that BJP cadres across Uttar Pradesh would effectively counter the opposition’s narrative.Citing projects such as the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor redevelopment and the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Nabin said they reflected the BJP’s commitment to preserving India’s cultural and religious heritage while pursuing development.
