BANDA: A 22-year-old man allegedly strangled his sister to death and dumped her body in a well after she repeatedly insisted on living with her boyfriend despite being recently married, officials said on Saturday.The victim was identified as Ranju (20) and the accused, identified as Sandeep Yadav, surrendered before police at the Haswa outpost under the Thariyanv police station area and allegedly confessed to murdering his 20-year-old sister, Ranju.According to police, Ranju had got married around one-and-a-half months ago. After returning to her parental home following a customary post-wedding visit, she allegedly left with her boyfriend, who belonged to another community, and came back three days later.Investigators said family members counselled the woman and sent her back to her husband’s house, but she continued to insist on staying with her boyfriend.Fatehpur Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik said the incident came to light after Yadav told police that he was taking his sister back to her matrimonial home on Friday when an argument broke out between them over the issue.Police alleged that during the dispute, he strangled her to death and later threw the body into a nearby well.Acting on the information provided by the accused, police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination.A case has been registered against Yadav under relevant sections of law.
