Lucknow: To ensure 24×7 monitoring, cow shelters in the state, 5,446 shelters have been connected with 7,592 cameras. “Through continuous surveillance, a watch is being maintained on arrangements related to fodder, health, cleanliness and security, ensuring immediate action against any kind of negligence. The system is also strengthening administrative accountability,” said Mukesh Meshram, additional chief secretary animal husbandry department.Digital surveillance system is strengthening administrative transparency as well as public trust, he said, adding, “The technology is proving extremely effective in taking swift decisions during emergency situation and currently, command and control rooms are active in 56 districts, from where the cameras are being monitored. Control rooms will soon be established in remaining 19 districts, using corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds. This will lead to development of integrated and robust surveillance system across the entire state, Meshram added. The ACS has directed all districts to ensure regular monitoring of shelters through CCTV cameras and to carry out immediate repairs in case of any malfunction. Officials have been instructed to inspect sites from time to time and further improve arrangements at the shelters.
