KAUSHAMBI: At least three people died and two others were seriously injured after a soil mound collapsed during digging work in Chak Thanwa village under Manjhanpur police station limits in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district on Sunday.Officials said the victims were digging soil for personal use when the mound suddenly caved in.District Magistrate Amit Pal Sharma said three people died on the spot, while police rescued two others and rushed them to the district hospital for treatment.The deceased were identified as Geeta Devi (40), her eight-year-old daughter Ankita, and Uttara Devi (45). Geeta’s 10-year-old son Amit and Jitiya (45) survived and are undergoing treatment at the district hospital.
